On the evening of 24 October, Lucknow did what it does best: it sat down, listened and let words do the work. Spill the Word Fest returned for its fourth season and Day 1 felt less like a scheduled event and more like a gathering of people who still believe a well-chosen line can change the mood of a room.
Organised by Kavita Kisse Kahaniyaan and inaugurated by Chandrashekhar Verma, Head of the PR and Communication Department at Amity University, Lucknow Campus, the two-day literary festival opened with poetry, storytelling, music and conversations that stayed with the audience long after the lights came up.
What Is Spill the Word Fest?
Spill the Word Fest is the signature festival of Kavita Kisse Kahaniyan, a literary and cultural initiative that celebrates poetry, storytelling and the performing arts through curated events and platforms for creative expression. Season 4 carried that idea forward: words are not meant to stay on the page. They are meant to be spoken, sung, shared and felt.
The Art of Storytelling: How Spill the Word Fest Began

The festival opened with a panel discussion, The Art of Storytelling, featuring Gautam Siddhartha. It was a fitting first note. Before the poems and songs began, the audience was invited to think about why we tell stories at all, what makes one stay with us, and how a well-told tale can make a stranger feel understood.
Poetry and Stories on Stage at Spill the Word Fest

Once the conversation set the tone, the evening opened up. Akanksha’s storytelling drew the audience into narratives that felt personal and immediate. Roshni Gupta later captivated the room with her own performance, a reminder that a story told aloud has a pulse of its own.

Poetry sat at the heart of the programme. Atal Narayan, Abhishek Shukla, Dr Krishna Kumar Singh and Vishakha each brought a distinct voice to the stage. In a city that treasures its tehzeeb and its love for shayari and kavita, the audience listened closely and responded warmly.
Music at Spill the Word Fest

Between the verses, music carried the mood. Niloy Roy performed sets that let the words of the evening settle and breathe, showing how closely poetry and melody are related and how each makes the other feel more alive.
Mirchi Mehfil Closed Day 1 of Spill the Word Fest

The day ended with Mirchi Mehfil, featuring RJ Tashi with Kartik Mishra. Light, lively and full of conversation, it closed the evening on a celebratory note and sent the audience home smiling. It proved that a literary festival can be joyful and still mean something.
After Day 1: What Spill the Word Fest Left Behind
By the time Mirchi Mehfil brought the evening to a close, one thing was clear: Spill the Word Fest had found its rhythm. The stories, verses and songs of Day 1 reminded everyone why Lucknow’s love for literature runs so deep.
The audience left smiling, inspired and carrying a few lines home with them. Spill the Word Fest Season 4 opened on a high note, and the festival continued on 25 October with another day of poetry, stories, music and cultural conversations.
Here the voices were heard, the words were felt and the city was reminded that the best stories are the ones we share together.
